Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions on the CJ6. It's a wonderful aircraft and we want you to get to know and love it as much as we do.

How much does a CJ cost today?
That is a loaded question. Cost of a stock CJ can be as low as the $50,000 range, but caveat emptor - that's not a CJ I'd put my kids in. A typically equipped VFR CJ on the used market can be had from $65,000 on up to just south of $100,000. A similarly equipped but M14P powered aircraft is worth about $30,000-$50,000 more depending on engine time and whether it has a 2 or 3 bladed prop. 3 blades look great (see at right) and have significantly better static thrust which means it's great for acro, but typical cruise and climb is not strikingly better than the 2 bladed V530 Russian prop.

Top of the line CJ's are running north of $200,000 to complete including overhauled airframes, show quality restoration, and modern avionics. Worldwide Warbirds has only top quality airframes and a rigorous inspection process for all our projects and has an aircraft to meet your budget.

Why a CJ and not a Yak-52?
They are both great aircraft, so the difference comes down to two main areas. For performance perhaps the best way to charactirize it through the missions the planes best serve. If you are looking for a mount for local flying and aerobatics and the ability to "go negative" and pop your eyes out, the Yak-52 is your machine. If you are interested in a good all-around machine that will both cruise at a reasonable cross country speed (150kts v. 130kts for the Yak), carry two large people comfortably with more than a toothbrush in your overnight bag, and gladly handle "gentleman's aerobatics" with begnin departure characteristics, then the CJ is for you.

The CJ is more expensive when comparably equipped, but tends to hold its value a bit better (and certainly better than the average 401K these days!). Our philosophy is we want you in the airplane that will best suit your needs...even if that's not a CJ. Call us and we'll be happy to give you our best assessement of what plane will work best for you.
